My official offer came a couple of days ago, along with a multitude of forms to read and fill out. I have an apartment mostly-set-up that will be provided for me during my training in D.C. At least I know the apartment building, if not the actual unit. I’ve made arrangements to sell my car to my mother, and just sent information to schedule a pack-out. It is more and more difficult to concentrate on my current job as I make preparations to move across the country. I still have a lot to do before I can leave…and little time to do it in.
Whenever I face an impending stressful situation, my subconscious goes into overdrive during my sleep. Last night I dreamed I showed up at the Foreign Service Institute and it was an awful run-down place (which of course I know is not the case!). Hopefully I will sleep better tonight…
I love the idea that you’d show up at the Foreign Service Institute and find dingy, run-down buildings, and some random guys hanging out there saying, Oh, Foreign Service? They haven’t showed up yet today.”
